Interesting Waffen SS medical Sturmbannführer blouse with Galician sleeve shield, issue SS M43 pattern field blouse has been heavily modified, hem has been slightly shortened and lower pockets have had bellows removed and the pockets themselves have been moved upwards on the skirt, upper pockets have also been slightly repositioned, pockets have been re-sewn using black bobbin thread, each pocket has had a false pleat added, likely utilizing the material left over from the shortening of the hem, a replacement dark green collar covering was fitted and the shoulders slightly padded, the front closure pebbled buttons have been slightly repositioned to make enlarge the fit, each sleeve has been let out slightly in order to lengthen them, blouse is factory marked Betr. Ra. and with sizes, insignia consists of a factory sewn embroidered sleeve eagle, a woven Galician sleeve shield which appears to have been applied using the same thread as was used to re-sew the pockets, the bullion wire medical sleeve diamond is sewn with the same black thread as is used to secure the undersurfaces of the dark green collar and the EKII ribbon, the right upper sleeve has an SS type Alter Kämpfer chevron, hand sewn, dark blue piped shoulder straps with black underlay are sewn into each shoulder, a late style SS officer's runic tab is machine sewn to the collar as is a Sturmbannführer rank tab, the backing material of each tab is slightly different, the left breast pocket has two sets of loops for badges and there are loops for a small ribbon bar, blouse shows moderate use throughout and there are a few small holes, right shoulder board has a small hole as do both collar tabs, consignor reports that the left shoulder board was loose when found and that this was repaired and that the collar tabs were restored to the tunic, further, consignor states that blouse was discovered in a Red Cross bag in a textile recycling center near Florence in 1979, items discussed here:
