Full image - THIS ITEM IS SOLD

Very rare SS-VT grey HBT M37 service blouse for LAH NCO, blouse is made of gray HBT cloth with internal features to include bags for the slant hip pockets and a waist draw string and channel, the blouse's marking stamps are faded stamps but appear identical to, and in exactly the same location, as those shown on page 681 of Michael Beaver’s book (Michael D. Beaver, Uniforms of the Waffen SS, Vol, 2, pg. 677-681), straps for the belt support loops removed, internal sleeve openings are trimmed in light cotton cloth, front buttons are affixed with the S-rings while the shoulder board buttons are sewn (and appear to have been re-sewn at some time), the blouse has seen field use and has been modified with the French cuffs having been removed and then re-sewn to extend the length of the sleeves, the under collar closure tab has also been removed (a common field modification), insignia consists of a very nice flatware runic tab and a matching woven Scharführer rank tab, there are however signs of previous tabs, the rank tab's litzen is of a 'thin bar' type which is not fully accepted in the collecting community, see, for example, the discussion at the link posted below this description – particularly post #85, both the the blouse's collar as well as the early style Scharführer infantry shoulder straps have the same type subdued metallic NCO tress, shoulder straps have a nice set of cloth LAH cyphers, the embroidered sleeve eagle is machine sewn in zig-zag fashion to the left sleeve and there is no indication of any previous insignia in its place, a beautiful flatwire LAH cufftitle is also machine sewn to the sleeve – again without any signs of a previous cuff title, the front left pocket has three badge loops and there is an EK II and Ostmedaille ribbon in the proper buttonhole however the wear of these ribbons does not appear to match the wear on the tunic, all in all, this is a very rare tunic with superb LAH insignia, the price reflects the possibility of at least partial restoration, for more information about variations with collar rank tab litzen, see Angolia’s Cloth Insignia of the SS (published in 1983); see pages 28-40, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information and photos, USD $10,250 WITHDRAWN
