Document and photograph grouping including Soldbuch for Luftwaffe JG77 fighter pilot Ritterkreuzträger with 69 victories, in addition to Soldbuch group includes promotion and award documents, photos, congratulatory letters and telegrams, discharge paper and modern research documents for Hauptmann Ludwig-Wilhelm “Lutz” Burkhardt who flew with JG77 and ended the war with 53 victories over Soviet aircraft (including 15 Sturmovik ground attack aircraft) and 16 victories on the western front (including 6 P-51 Mustangs and 6 P-47 Thunderbolts), at war's end he was serving with III./EJG 2 where he underwent training on the Me 262 jet fighter, specifically the grouping consists of Burkhardt's Soldbuch with photo wearing RK and with notation of award in October '42, swastikas in Soldbuch have been lightly obscured with pencil, also included are three large promotion documents, each with their folders for promotion to Leutnant, Oberleutnant and Hauptmann, each folder has Burkhardt's rank and name plus JG77 unit markings typed to the cover, large formal document for the pilot's badge, Wehrmachtführerschein with photo in uniform, a handwritten letter of thanks with envelope from the commander of an Italian fighter squadron, a typewritten award document (in German) for Italian Cross with Swords for Bravery, a typewritten certificate for attendance of Luftkriegsschule Fürstenfeldbruck for flight training, a typewritten letter from commodore of 3. Jagddivision referring to considerations from Reichsminister Dr. Seyss-Inquart, a typewritten document concerning Hauptmann Burkhardt's protest of the punishment of another officer, a hand drawn certificate for the use of a Mercedes automobile, a handwritten poem to Hauptm. Burkhardt, telegram of congratulations of award of Ritterkreuz from a political leader, telegram of congratulations of award of Ritterkreuz from Generalfeldmarschall Milch, 20 original photos, three of which show Burhardt wearing the Knights Cross are included, other photo subjects show comrades, training, service in the desert, training, etc., there is a certificate of discharge issued by the 3rd U.S. Army, also included are about 65 printed pages of research information, all documents, photos and color copies are neatly contained in a large binder, only a fraction of the material can be displayed here, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information, USD $2200 SOLD
