Grouping pertaining to a Heer Obergefreiter in Gebirgsjäger Nachrichten Abteilung 54, consignor reports group was purchased from the family in December 2013, items formerly belonged to Gebirgsjäger Johann (Hans) Aubry who joined the unit n Oberammergau in December 1940 and remained with 3./Geb.Nachr.Abt.54 until the war's end, Obergefreiter Aubry was awarded the East Medal, the Drivers Badge in bronze and silver, the Wound Badge in black, the Infantry Assault Badge and the War Merit Cross 2nd Class, also included is his well filled out 1944 issued Wehrpass, a summary lists all actions in which he was involved from 1940 until mid 1944 including anti partisan combat: Bekämpfung der Bandenbewegung I'm Südostraum - Serbien, Montenegro, Griechenland, Kroatien, also included is a red leatherette cover with national emblem for the Wehrpass including two dried Edelweiss flowers, his Arbietsbuch, HJ Ids, and many various other papers included postwar discharge documents are included, Aubry's original HJ SÜD HOCHLAND area cloth badge Is included as are items from Heer uniform including woven mountain troops arm shiled with silver wire piton, 2 further included are two East Medals (one 88 marked), his War Merit Cross, his Drivers Badge, his Wound Badge in black (hinge, catch, pin missing) and his JFS marked silver Infantry Assault Badge, as part of the grouping is a postwar carved commemorative wooden wall plate and several small Edelweiss pins, further included are cased Dienstbrille, a 1943 dated powder bottle plus a canteen and metal cup (broken leather strap) with his name written on the reverse cover, finally, also included is Aubry's privately made field cap of field grey wool with white linen lining, full leatherette sweatband and green fabric backed Edelweiss, the woven trapazoidal insignia is hand applied and this looks to have been done postwar, cap is worn and soiled but there are no holes or other damage, about a size 56, very interesting grouping to a soldier that saw over four years of continuous service, USD $1700 SOLD
