Knights Cross document grouping for Heer Infanterie Major Werner Naseband, set includes Naesband's Soldbuch with RK photo and listing of awards to include RK, original photo postcards of Naseband as an NCO, as an officer and two of subject with RK and DKiG, one of these has May '43 dedication on reverse, further there are small format photos, the first with Naseband wearing RK and flanked by comrades at the front plus two other photos, one a chest shot and another full image of Naseband wearing 'crusher' cap, documents include Naseband's preliminary RK award document, both large and small DKIG award documents, award documents for Wound Badge in Black, Infantry Assault Badge, EKII, EKI and Ostmedaille (typewritten notification), also included is a large format promotion to Leutnant document, long service medal award document, documents for attendance of courses at Kriegsschule Dresden, plus there is the Tagesbefehl with folder announcing the award of RK to Naseband (plus document announcing award of EL to Primozic and RKs to Weidling, Hundert, Uhl, Brutscher and Harth), there are telegrams of congratulations for award of RK from company and divisional commanders plus a letter of congratulations from an Armeeoberkommado Major adjutant, plus there are two typewritten notifications confirming award of DKiG and another notifying Naseband to upcoming award of RK, there are two newspaper clipping covering the award of the RK, a unique piece of artwork on a double sided piece of vellum rendered in multiple colors depicts an officer with MP leading his men in a winter battle scene, above that is the RK with ribbon, inside is a roll with signatures of comrades below a flying Reichskriegsflag and with the legend Pustoschka Dez. 1942, finally there are four pieces of original artwork done in pencil, two depicting scenes in France during the '40 campaign and two other large pieces of scenes from the Ostfront in '41, all pieces are sound and in very good condition just showing normal age yellowing and light wear, Werner Naseband entered service '34 at the 18, underwent his training as a Fahnenjunker under the command of the a future legend and Diamonds recipient, Walther Model, was commissioned in '36 and and his career spanned almost the entire prewar and wartime periods, he fought in Poland, France and in Russia, the action resulting in the award for Naseband's RK took place from November-December '42 during the heavy fighting at Rzhev (this battle is well-documented in the David Glantz book, Zhukov's Greatest Defeat, the successful German defense of the Rzhev salient proved to be one of the major Wehrmacht victories of 1942), Naseband is credited with holding the line for his battalion against powerful Soviet attacks lead by tanks and then personally leading a counterattack with only a handful of men, interestingly enough, the Rzhev fighting brought Naseband back under the command of a Model again, as Hitler appointed Model as overall commander during the battle, consignor will also provide scans of Naseband's Personalakten and a translation of a wartime newspaper article detailing his RK actions, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information and for more detailed photos, USD $12,000 WITHDRAWN
