Full image - THIS ITEM IS SOLD

Ultra rare Waffen-SS Panzer protective helmet and beret cover, perhaps the most unlikely type of all issue SS headwear to be found in collections, this textbook example was lightly worn and displays beautifully, set consists of the beret cover having the unique spiral weave, the full stem remains and is undamaged, the lower hemmed edges have elasticized internal tape in order to snugly fit the helmet, the machine embroidered SS national emblem and Totenkopf were specifically created for use on the beret and each is factory machine zig zag sewn to the cover, the protective helmet itself has a black oilcoth lining and full leather sweatband, the reverse of the sweatband is stamped with the maker and date: Karl Kubach Mützenfabrik Mainz-Kastel 1939, the sweatband is somewhat dry and inflexible, there are some small tears and a couple of sweatband portions are missing, three of the six rubber ventilation grommets are missing, there are a few minor moth nips to the helmet's lower padded ring, the cover itself is quite clean and in mostly excellent condition with only a couple of tiny insect bites noted, this pattern was issued when Waffen-SS armored formations were in their infancy and were used in small numbers and for only a short time, please inquire to information@virtualgrenadier.com for additional photos, information and pricing SOLD
