VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. URH2 Reitz made M42 service blouse for a Heer Nachrichricten Gefreiter, standard issue blouse slightly modified for wear by its former owner, the lower hem was slightly shortened and the cargo pockets were moved upwards by a few centimeters and sewn down around their perimeter, the factory installed national emblem was replaced with a machine embroidered on dark green felt with black highlights version hand sewn into place, the rank chevron having metallic tresse on dark green badge cloth is also hand applied, the subdued collar litzen are factory straight machine stitched, included are a matched pair of shoulder straps having synthetic piping, these are of a slightly greener shade and have ribbed cotton reinforcing materials, the blouse, which is made of a nice quality field grey wool is also lined in and has inner belt hook support straps of ribbed cotton, with black ink stamping for the Reitz firm and with size markings, depot marking appears to have a '41 date which would make this one of the earliest M42 examples observed, the black composite buttons used for collar liner, bandage pocket and cuffs all remain and all are originally sewn, painted pebbled steel buttons are used at front closure, for the pockets and shoulder straps, piece with light age and wear but there are a few scattered but small moth holes - three to the right lower sleeve rear, one top the left lower sleeve plus a tiny hole to each breast pocket and one to the back, these could be easily darned if desired, a very nice example from a desirable maker, USD $1275 SOLD
