VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Attractive Kriegsmarine officer Bordmütze with Edelweiss badge, with stampings in white ink for a Saxon maker and having a '42 date, having a lining of black cotton and body of dark blue wool, the metallic gold piping is machine sewn, the woven KM national emblem is hand sewn as is the woven roestte which is sewn into a circular shape, the metal Edelweiss is applied using grey thread, excellent condition, cap estimated size 56, the Edelweiss badge appears to have been applied by KM personnel involved in the Narvik operation and also as a personal affectation, personnel of U-124 adopted the Edelweiss insignia after their boat was sunk at Narvik with subsequent rescue by Heer Gebirgsjäger, USD $1200 SOLD
