Beautiful Erel made Luftwaffe General officer ranks visored cap, consignor reports cap was brought home by a U.S. veteran in 1945, classic late war Erel cap having the silver embossed logo to the tan leather sweatband at the position of the wearer's left temple, the Erel Sonderklasse Privat logo is clearly legible under the intact celluloid sweat diamond, the lining material is a pale green colored rayon, the capband reverse is treated black pasteboard, having a crisp composite visor with black glossy finish, the cap body itself is made of fine deep blue grey colored wool of fine textture, crown with gilt celleon piping and the black mohair cap band is edged with the same bright celleon cord, the non metallic gilt chincord is held with two small gold finished pebbled buttons sewn into place, the finely detailed hand embroidered Luftwaffe General rank national emblem is rendered onto a blue grey wool backing and is hand stitched to the cap's front through the lining, the nicely contrasting hand embroidered wreath and national colors rosette may also be of a different type of celleon or a combination of celleon and wire thread, this piece is embroidered onto a black wool field and stitched to the cap band, large size estimated at 59 or 60, cap has a high peak has a plush appearance and is very impressive in person, the cap was worn minimally if at all and has obviously been very well cared for in the intervening decades, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier for additional information, USD $11,000 WITHDRAWN
