Incredible Carl Halfar made '40 dated Heer M40 cap for a Panzergrenadier EM, example representing perhaps the most desired branch produced by the most desirable maker, cap is in the 100% original service used condition as sought by collectors, cap was one of the earliest pieces produced by the Carl Halfar firm in Berlin during 1940 and the red cotton lining still retains that company's marking along with the date and size 55, the cap's body is made of faded olive colored cotton twill, each side has two ventilation grommets, the first type tropical pattern woven national emblem and rosette are factory zig zag machine sewn in the fashion employed by the Halfar firm, the somewhat frayed Panzergrenadier branch soutcahe is originally factory machine sewn, as was the case with other examples the former owner had a full brown colored leather sweatband installed and this was period done via machine stitching, lining and sweatband show wear and fading as does the external body, there are frayed areas to brim edge, peak, and cap's rear tip, the use, wear, fading and fraying add immeasurable character to the cap and its appearance, evocative of the campaign in the North African desert, USD $10,500 NEW PRICE
