VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Service used Waffen-SS second type M42 blurred edge pullover smock, one of the earlier produced M42 types having the horizontal pocket flaps, constructed of cotton duck with the distinctive blurred edge spring camo reversible to the autumn pattern, lower sleeve panels and pocket flaps of slightly contrasting shades, smock with an original drawstring knotted at the end, assembled using black thread, the drawstring buttonholes are hand sewn using straw colored threads, having pocket bags of green colored drillich material having an HBT weave, one pocket bag with period machine darning, two of the four painted metal pebbled buttons for the pocket flaps appear to have been restitched, foliage loops of the same fabric are located at the upper back and shoulders on each side, the center of the set of three foliage loops on the rear right shoulder have been removed from the autumn side to make room for another period machine darned repair and the corresponding loop has been removed from the opposite side as well, additional period darned repairs may be found at the outer shoulders and at the right lower underarm, all of these are done ins straw colored thread, there is a small tear to the right lower skirt underneath the pocket position, sleeve and waist elastics are still strong, having vented underarms, otherwise unaltered and in very good condition considering obvious field use, USD $9500 SOLD
