VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. Named Heer M40 single decal tricolor spray camouflaged helmet, Q64 shell, having steel liner bands and red brown colored leather liner size marked, penned to the liner is former owner's rank and name, perhaps Gefr. Bauer Vitus, liner with drawstring, full length maker marked chinstrap has aluminum hardware, liner pins all have their washers and all are securely attached to the shell, the factory grey green paint and single Heer decal were over sprayed in a deep tan base color with additional sprays in red brown and dark green camouflage colors which are predominant, the outline of the decal may be observed under the paint, the pins are still covered in camo paint, there are abrasions and scratches to the paint, particularly at the rear, estimated coverage is approximately 90% or better, superior and striking example, USD $3350 SOLD
