Full image - THIS ITEM IS SOLD

Black Panzer wrap for a Waffen-SS Unterscharführer, earlier pattern SS issue wrap having the slightly longer body and a center back seam as observed in examples made mid war and before, wrap body itself is constructed of a softer high quality black wool, collar under surfaces are of a coarser textured black wool, there is a black painted steel hook and eye at the throat, wrap is lined in ribbed black rayon and there is one internal pocket, waist tie tunnels are of the same material but the belt hook support straps are of a black colored 'olona' type cotton, black waist tie tapes have an HBT weave, size stampings and maker code 627 are in white ink, inner button tabs are fashioned from the coarser black wool, there are four large black composite doughnut shaped front closure buttons, the lapel, button tab and cuff adjustments buttons are the same but smaller, each cuff is missing the outer most button but the attachment threads remain at each station, each cuff was shortened a couple of centimeters to accommodate the wearer, shoulder strap bridles are also made of the slightly coarser black wool, the matched pair of Heer-style slip on shoulder straps have field grey wool tongues with rayon reinforcing materials, they have synthetic piping and dull metallic machine applied NCO tresse, the machine embroidered SS sleeve eagle is factory zig zag sewn to the sleeve, close inspection reveals sign of former sleeveband application and certain of the attachment threads are still in place, the matched pair of collar patches are machine applied, the runic tab is a machine embroidered example, the silver rank tab's pip's prongs penetrate the collar, the right rear shoulder has an extra seam that extends from shoulder to the position of the rear waist dart on that side and this is so well executed that it is not particularly noticeable, it is thought that this may have been done to repair a tear, garment was lightly worn and little nap wear is apparent, other than some light age and soiling, no other flaws are noted, superb example and formerly in the collection of a highly-respected Panzer uniform collector, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information and detailed photos, USD $17,500 SOLD
