Spectacular attributed Heer black Panzer wrap with awards and documentation for Leutnant Werner Stangenberg of the Panzerkorps Feldherrnhalle, 1945, includes unmarked EKI, unmarked Black Wound Badge and Panzer Assault Badge for 25 engagements with strengthening repairs to the wreath's reverse, further included are the original typed Antragen named to Lt. Stangenberg , the first dated 7 Jul. 1941 and listing actions in the eat resulting in the award of the Panzer Assault Badge and the second dated 6 Apr. 1944 documenting actions resulting in the award of the 25 PAB, there are two photographs, one as Gefreiter in piped black wrap and the second in four pocket service dress an Leutnant, further included are four references, two of which prominently depict the uniform with color photos and a third which discusses the grades of the Panzer Assault Badge, per the references, Stangenberg joined the Feldherrnhalle Panzer troop replacement and training unit in July 1944 and was issued the wrap in early 1945, the wrap itself is a standard issue item modified for officer use, all insignia is originally applied, wrap is stamped in black ink on the right inner pocket with '44 date and depot, sizes and RBNr, stampings are indistinct, although of later war vintage, wool is of a high quality, lining, tie tape tunnels and the two internal pockets are made from grey colored rayon, ties are of flat black tape with HBT weave, the internal belt hook support straps are fashioned from a grey colored web material, wrap body was shortened per later war style dictates and there are three large black composite front closure buttons, smaller black buttons are positioned for closure of lapel and buttoning tabs, the sleeve ends were slightly hemmed and their closures tacked closed (one has since come open), insignia includes factory applied collar patches of the same material as the wrap and having rosa colored synthetic piping, the collar patches are factory machine applied and each tab has a silvered brass Totenkopf with prongs penetrating the collar, the issue shoulder strap bridles were removed and Leutnant rank shoulder boards sewn tightly into the shoulder seams, each board has gilt FHH device affixed with flat prongs, the gilt finish of one device is stronger than the other, the right breast has an originally hand sewn flatwire national emblem, the lower left sleeve has a machine woven Feldherrnhalle sleeveband, applied to the lapel buttonhole is sewn Ostmedaiile and EKII ribbons, one overlapping the other, the edges of each length of ribbon are sewn down, to the lower left breast are three sets of badge loops and evidence of wear is plain to see and the loops are a bit frayed, wrap was service used, body and lining exhibit light age and soling but there is no mothing or other damage, a truly splendid grouping, inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information, USD $15,000 SOLD
