VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Luftwaffe tropical service visored cap 'Hermann Meyer' type, of tan cotton twill construction, with red lining materials, having a tan colored cotton sweatband, dated 1942, with size and other markings stamped in black ink, with dual stel ventilation grommets to each side, the black pebbled leather adjustable chinstrap is applied with unfinished side facing outward and is secured with two brown colored glass buttons, the woven insignia is originally factory applied vis straight machine stitch, cap has seen light service use and is lightly soiled and with some minor staining to the top, the insignia is slightly abraded, the rear glass button used for securing the neck protection flap is cracked and the lower third is missing, service used example that has a nice shape and handsome appearance, USD $3000 SOLD
