VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. Waffen-SS Panzer officer's black M43 cap, issue cap constructed of mid to later war quality black wool and having a lining of black drillich fabric with HBT pattern, with a single black composite button to the front, cap was upgraded for wear by an officer with the addition of silver metallic twisted cord piping added by hand to the crown using black thread, this is well executed, cap has separate SS eagle and skull factory hand applied to the front using black thread, if there were markings they are no longer visible, approximate size is 59, cap was most certainly service worn and shows light wear to the wool's nap and age yellowing to the insignia, particularly the eagle, lining also is soiled from coming into contact with the former owner's head, original examples of this type cap are practically unobtainable, SOLD
