Luftwaffe contract field grey wrap for a Panzerjäger Oberleutnant in Panzer-Division Hermann Göring, one of the small handful of these types known to still exist and exhibiting the unique characteristics of field grey wraps made specifically for use by Luftwaffe personnel, wrap is constructed of later war quality field grey wool and is lined in blue grey colored rayon that has mostly faded to a light grey color, the internal belt hook support straps and internal tie tape tunnels are made of the same material, the tie tapes themselves are of dark blue colored fabric having the HBT pattern weave, the right internal lining panel is stamped in the unique font seen with these wraps and includes the expected 344 maker code and sizes, the large front closure buttons are dark blue colored glass, the buttoning tab, lapel and cuff buttons are blue grey colored glass, all buttons remain and are period sewn, the four large front closure buttons were slightly relocated to take in the wrap at the waist, shoulder board buttons are dark blue grey painted pebbled steel, consignor reports insignia is postwar restored (or partially restored), the appropriate period silver washed zinc Totenkopfen are applied to the collar, each still has one pointed prong and each has stitching through the skull's eye holes for attachment to the collar, a matched pair of Luftwaffe Oberleutnant shoulder boards with rosa colored underlay are attached, the shoulder strap bridles are unaltered, the hand embroidered aluminum wire national emblem on blue grey wool is hand sewn with cotton thread, hand sewn with dark grey thread to the lower right sleeve is a machine embroidered Hermann Göring NCO sleeveband, the embroidery is in silver grey thread and the band has silver grey 'Russia braid' borders, there is a small repair and a small cut to the sleeveband where it is sewn together at the rear, an EKII ribbon is sewn to the top lapel buttonhole and there are original loops for three breast badges, this particular example was certainly service used and the exposed wool areas are age toned and show a good bit of nap wear, despite this there are no holes or repairs noted, a rare original purpose-made Luftwaffe wrap actually service worn, USD $12,500 SOLD
