Bone white faded Heer EM M40 cap manufactured by Schlesische Mützenfabrik Frankenstein, having the classic appearance of the types worn in Africa, this cap has the shadow of the former soutache and thread traces indicate that it was rosa colored for Panzerjäger, cap's body is made of olive colored cotton twill that has uniformly faded, the woven tropical pattern national emblem and rosette are hand sewn as is proper for this maker, each side has a pair of oxidized ventilation grommets, the red cotton lining is faded from wear and bears the black ink stampings with maker information, size 57 and 1941 date, the cap saw hard service and there are abraded areas to the lower rear edges, the peak and the top rear, there is staining ans some minor separation to the lining at the forehead position, the top has a hole measuring just over 1cm in diameter, in addition there are a few brownish stains and a couple of blackish stains (motor oil?) to the front adjacent to the rosette, great looking combat veteran!, USD $
