Modified Waffen-SS contract M42 service blouse for a veterinary Hauptsturmführer, standard issue maker 349 with typical modifications, addition of large pointed dark green badge cloth collar with a single hook and eye at the throat, removal of internal belt hook support straps, bellows removed from lower pockets which are sewn down around their perimeter, addition of false pleats to all patched pockets to give appearance of earlier model, blouse made of mid war quality field grey wool in the Waffen-SS pattern with five button front, two position belt hook support holes, horizontal bandage pocket buttonhole, etc., lining and bandage pocket are made of light grey colored rayon, size markings are stamped in black ink below the maker code, light grey colored glass buttons are used at the cuffs, the right cuff is missing one and the bandage pocket button is also missing, with a complete set of field grey painted pebbled buttons, two look to be original replacements, matching collar patches for a Hauptsturmführer are had stitched to the collar, having a hand embroidered aluminum wire runic tab plus rank tab with two metallic rank litzen and three aluminum pips, the thin SS style silver twisted edge piping is sewn into place with black thread, a pair of Heer style veterinary branch shoulder boards, each with two gilt rank pips and a gilt snake, are sewn into the shoulder seams, a woven EM style SS sleeve eagle is zig zag machine sewn to the left upper arm, at one time a sleeveband had been applied as the fresh horizontal wool band on the lower sleeve clearly indicates, the Ostmedaille ribbon is affixed to the buttonhole with a period safety pin, there are loops for a ribbon bar and a breast badge, blouse reveals a good bit of service used and the exposed wool is soiled from use and wear, the upper edges of the collar that contacted the neck are worn and there are a couple of small holes to the dark green fabric, the shoulder boards are worn on the tips adjacent the buttons with the underlying reinforcing card visible in spots, there is an area of darning with grey thread to the back edge of the right board, the sleeve eagle has a vertical separation to its left wing, no holes or repairs are noted to the wool, attractive subject, USD $4250 SOLD
