Exceptional Heer black wrap for a Panzernachrichten Hauptmann in Panzergrenadier-Division Großdeutschland, standard issue pattern mid war wrap built of good quality black wool, wrap has lining, internal pocket bags, tie tunnels, buttoning tabs and belt hook support straps of grey colored rayon, cuff linings are of the same grey rayon plus sections of black poplin, the waist ties are black tape with HBT weave and finished ends, the right tie tape is hand stitched to the right internal pocket, the left tie tape is cinched somewhat and knotted into place, lining is stamped in purple ink with sizes and depot/date St.42, with four large black composite closure buttons, all looking to have had additional period reinforcing stitches, the smaller lapel and buttoning composite buttons are all present and look to have their original stitching, the same type of small buttons are used at the cuff and the right cuff lacks one, collar has a black painted hook and eye at the throat, the Panzernachrichten collar patches are made from the same material as the wrap and look to have been installed by machine sewing at the time of manufacture, collar tabs are piped in rayon, each aluminum Totenkopf has a single round brass prong and examination of the lower collar surfaces indicates that other skulls were installed at one time, the white on black woven national emblem is originally hand sewn and is well seated into the fabric, the shoulder strap bridles are removed and the matched pair of shoulder boards are sewn tightly into the seams, each board has zitronengelb colored wool underlay, two gilt rank pips and a gilt GD cypher, the left shoulder board's rank pips are oxidized in spots, the original sleeveband was removed from the lower right sleeve although its outline may be observed and there are quite a few remaining attachment stitches, included is a uniform removed Großdeutschland sleeveband in Sütterlin script with silver wire embroidery on black wool base with silver edging, this example is sewn together at the rear and was placed on the sleeve (but not sewn into place) for the photos, its diameter is a centimeter or two small for the sleeve's diameter, an EKII ribbon is sewn to the second lapel buttonhole, there are loops for a three place ribbon bar (included) and two breast badges, wrap is just lightly worn and soiled, the rear edge of the collar and cuff ends shows a bit of nap wear, other than noted above, there is no damage to wool or insignia, superb item, USD $15,750 SOLD
