Mid war quality issue Heer black Panzer wrap for a Hauptmann, standard issue wrap modified for use by an officer, constructed of mid to later war wool and lined in slightly differing shades of grey rayon, with size stampings in black ink including B43 depot stamp, the following modifications were made to the garment: as required by the dictates of later war fashion, the skirt was shortened by several centimeters necessitating removal of the lower two large front closure buttons, the lower inner closure tab was relocated to the inner lower hem, the inner side tightening tunnels and tapes were removed as were the inner belt hook support straps, the left inner pocket had a zipper installed and the upper portions of the lining's edge on that side were slightly repositioned by hand, the outer cuff buttons were removed, the shoulder strap bridles were removed when the sew in shoulder boards were installed, each shoulder board has two zinc rank pips, each inner shoulder area has been padded for a more 'heroic' fit, the lower edges of the wrap's collar were slightly taken in with a new line of stitching being added (most likely to balance overall upper body proportions) and the synthetically piped collar patches with aluminum skulls (prongs penetrate the collar) were slightly repositioned, the factory national emblem was removed and a black wool backed bullion national emblem was hand sewn in its place, in addition to the insignia mentioned, a Kuban shield on blue black wool backing is sewn to the left upper sleeve, the shield's edge has three small drilled holes but there are no corresponding attachment threads at these holes, ribbons for EKII and Ostmedaille are sewn to the lapel's first buttonhole and there are loops for four breast badges, overall condition is excellent with wrap showing only light wear, great looking example with typical modifications, USD $5500 SOLD
