VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Double decal camouflaged M38 Heer Fallschirmjäger helmet, shell stampings illegible but size 68, with aluminum liner bands and having spanner bolts, with early style light colored foam pads, tan colored leather liner well stamped with Heisler maker and size block information, grey leather and suede chin harness with PRYM snap, chinstrap has some splits in the leather and a few lengths of the stitching have come loose and have period repaired sections, liner itself has some wear and darkening but the leather is still soft and is not torn nor does it have missing sections, the factory smooth grey green paint was over painted by hand in a uniform dark brown rougher texture coat of camouflage paint, in areas the camo paint is missing and the smooth apple green base paint can be seen, both the Heer national emblem as well as the national colors shield appear to have been collector dug out by scraping away the camouflage paint, the toned Heer eagle is about 80% intact/visible while about 60% of the national colors shield is evident, at least 90% of the helmet's camo finish remains, interesting example of a rare helmet, USD $9000 SOLD
