Lightweight British battledress style jacket as used by Kriegsmarine U-boat crewmen, presumed British made, constructed of soft cotton twill with lie down collar, five button front with a six concealed button at the wasitband, with two large pleated patch pockets and having an integral waistbelt with slide buckle, the cuffs were made to be adjustable but the buttons were removed and the sleeve ends sewn closed with black cotton thread, there is a rectangular shaped pocket with vertical opening at the left internal breast, a faint manufacturer stamp is applied to this area, the large buttons are of brown plastic, the woven Kriegsmarine national emblem is hand sewn with grey green colored cotton thread and certainly looks to be period done, garment shows a great bit of wear and there are holes are period darned repairs to the sleeves, in white and black threads plus another repair to the jacket's front using dark blue yarn, the inner neck is stamped in black ink 52 and over this sewn a woven nametag of German origin with the name Gemeiner, over this is inked another name, amazing piece, please paste the URL below for discussion of these types, USD $1850 SOLD
