Luftwaffe officer's visored cap, body of constructed of blue grey colored ribbed trikot fabric, with ribbed black mohair cap band, having silver metallic piping at crown and along the cap band, the metallic silver chin cord is held with small silver pebbled buttons, the black leather visor is edged in black oilcoth, the leather has crazed and has an impression from the chin cord, the oilcloth edging is cracked with some pieces having flaked off, the hand embroidered bullion wire national emblem and wreath are hand sewn to the cap's body, the cap has a light cream colored rayon lining, a former owner's name is applied in in to the lining, the intact celluloid sweat diamond has the maker's silver foil logo and a paper size tag typed 56, with a tan colored full leather sweatband that is loose at the left temple, cap shows a good bit of wear internally and externally is a bit dusty, there is no damage to the fabric and the metallic components are free of oxidation, it is believed that the cap may have belonged to Leutnant Rolf Heissner, Staffelkapitän of 11/JG27, who was killed in December 1943 in combat with Spitfires, USD $1285 SOLD
