VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. 1944 production Heer black wrap for a Leutnant in Panzer-Regiment 3, constructed of dense quality black wool with lining of light grey colored rayon, stamped in black ink with prominent RBNr, sizes and the F44 depot marking, closure tabs and inner waist tie tape tunnels are made of the same material as the lining, the inner belt hook support straps are webbed and include a pair of field grey painted belt support hooks, the inner waist closure ties are of a black tape with HBT weave and finished ends, the large front closure buttons are of a black composite material, the cuff, lapel and inner tab closure buttons are the smaller conically shaped type, the factory installed insignia include rosa colored Russia braid sewn machine stitched with black thread into the shape of a parallelogram, the silver washed zinc Totenkopfen are affixed through the collar with three pointed triangular prongs, the second type white on black Panzer woven national emblem is machine straight machine stitched in the 'zip and flip' fashion but not through the lining, set up for wear with slip on shoulder straps and including a matched pair of slip on officer shoulder boards with gilt 3s, the boards are anchored with two painted pebbled steel buttons, there are loops for a single breast badge, garment was lightly worn and absent damage, super example, USD $5500
