VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Uniform removed woven sleeve badge intended for wear by members of Sonderverband 288, woven in light grey and yellow threads on a dark green background, was sewn to a sleeve at one time and shows light wear, there are traces of glue to the reverse; Z.B.V. 288 was raised in Potsdam and originally contained crack units from all branches of the Heer: antitank, alpine and engineering troops and eventually incorporated three StuG IIIs, during the Gazala Line battles the 288th saw action supporting the Italian Ariete against the French forces defending Bir Hacheim at the southern tip of the British defenses, USD $600 SOLD
