Service used Luftwaffe M40 Fallschirmjäger splinter camouflage on Grünmeliert converted step in jump smock, early production model wartime converted from a step in to a button up version using plain green Grünmeliert materials, the legs were opened and new sections neatly applied at the center rear skirt to include the addition of snaps, at the rear, fittings of splinter camo fabric for the flaregun were fitted, the vertical front closure buttonhole panel is also fashioned from this material, otherwise the smock is not altered and the upper breast closure snaps and national emblem remain, the latter is machine embroidered on Grünmeliert fabric and is zig zag machine sewn to the breast, one section of the upper wing has a repaired length of machine stitching, the smock has pocket bags of ribbed olive colored cotton, the flare gun reinforcement panel is blue colored flat cotton, the left upper pocket bag is stamped in black ink to a Berlin maker (Schultz), size IIB and with '41 date, lower and cuff snaps are marked PRYM6, upper chest snaps have plastic coverings for the female components, zipper heads are stamped RAPID and each has its brown leather pull tab, wind cuffs are of ribbed blue grey colored cotton, the large front closure buttons are of black plastic, the lowest is a replacement of civilian origin, with the exception of the front center skirt snap, all snaps are present and operational, smock exhibits service wear and fading, there are wartime darned repairs to the closure button area but these are hidden when closed, there is another machine darned repair with a small piece of GM fabric at the lower left rear seat, the cuff ends are a bit frayed, fine example of a desirable early smock with a pleasing appearance, USD $12,250 NEW PRICE
