Set of Wehrpass and documents pertaining to an Unteroffizier of Heer 3./Panzer-Regiment 8 who was killed at Fuka during the El Alamein battle, subject was born in Bad Ischl in 1917, served in the 3rd Kompanie, Panzer Regiment 8 – 15th Pz Division, he was in hospital from Dec. '42 through Feb. '42 before returning to his company on 1 March and subsequently fell on 4 Nov. 1942, Wehrpass cover is marked with a red X and has a photo in mountaineering clothing, book details service in various Panzer units from 1939, qualified with K98k, P.08, MP18, MG13, MG34 and MP38/40, was awarded BWB and Panzer Assault Badge in bronze, with service at Gazala, Tobruk, Marsa Matruh and Alamein, includes photo wearing second pattern piped black Panzer wrap, the accompanying documents includes letters of condolence to subject's mother from comrades, the first is from an Oberfeldwebel explaining the circumstances of death by bomb splinter to the heart and that death was immediate, detailing how well regarded this enthusiastic soldier was by his comrades, location of field burial site, etc.; the other letter refers to a photo made by the subject of himself with comrades before his death with the promise to forward a copy; also included is a notification to subject's mother of award of the PAB in bronze and documents related to compensation due to the subjects' mother, all documents had been folded and tucked into the rear pocket of the Wehrpass and show age, the Wehrpass is complete with a few slightly wrinkled pages, the photo was removed from an album and is age yellowed with cracked edges, sobering reminders of one soldier's service, USD $800 SOLD
