Service blouse for a Waffen-SS Artillerie Unterstrumführer from 2. SS Panzer-Division Das Reich, consignor has owned for approximately 15 years, was originally purchased from an estate sale in New York State in the 1970s; privately made garment constructed of heavy field grey colored Italian gabardine fabric, with grey colored rayon lining and one internal breast pocket, with provision for wear with dagger or sword, sleeve linings are white rayon, with a dark green badge cloth stand and fall collar having two sets of hooks and eyes, blouse with six button front, four pleated patch pockets, turn back cuffs and rear vented skirt, all buttons are painted pebbled steel and each is sewn with matching thread, the SS runic collar patch is hand embroidered in aluminum wire over Unterlagen to a black wool moleskin base, the matching rank tab is of the same fabric and it has three aluminum rank pips, the pips' prongs to do not penetrate the collar, each collar patch has SS style thin twisted silver wire piping and both are machine stitched to the collar with black cotton thread, the sewn in shoulder boards each have subdued metallic cords sewn to black wool bases, piping is synthetic, one board has the smooth style piping while the other has the basketweave type, the officer quality sleeve eagle is hand embroidered in aluminum wires on a black wool bases, it is hand stitched to the upper left sleeve with black thread, the woven flatwire Das Reich sleeve band is straight machine stitched to the left upper cuff edge, it has flat silver lettering and non metallic woven borders, EKII and Ostmedaille ribbons are applied to the second buttonhole with black threads, there is one set of badge loops, blouse was service worn and exhibits light to moderate soiling and overall even patina, the lining is a bit age yellowed and there are a few small holes to it, there is an area of damage to the lower edge of the rear collar, sections underneath the collar show mothing as does the rear of the left shoulder board, the buttons have lost some of their paint, the garments body itself is free of damage or repair, extremely attractive, USD $22,000
