Piped service blouse, visored cap, awards and documents pertaining to Heer Ritterkreuzträger Infanterie Oberst Franz Kornprobst, Kommandeur, Grenadier-Regiment 320, 212. Volksgrenadier-Division, Oberst Kornprobst was awarded the RK on 5 April 1945, please paste the URL below for detailed information about this officer's ranks, units, awards, etc.; includes the piped service blouse being worn with awards by Oberst Kornprobst in the photograph, the pre war quality garment has the woven label of a Viennese tailor and is made of the highest quality soft field grey colored trikot wool, it has a dark green badge cloth stand and fall collar, four pleated patch pockets and turn back cuffs, the lower edge of the dark green collar, the blouse's front closure and the upper edge of the turn back cuffs are piped in white wool, the lining is of a green colored rayon and there is one internal pocket and has provision for wear with dagger or sword, the internal waist belt fastens to a set of button sewn to the middle front closure, the high quality silver pebbled metal buttons are Assmann marked, all match and look to be originally sewn, the shoulder board buttons are the narrower diameter type, insignia includes collar patches that are hand embroidered in aluminum wires and these are hand applied, the dress quality shoulder boards are tightly sewn in, each board has two gilt rank pips and the numerals 131, the highest quality hand embroidered national emblem is rendered in aluminum and silver wires and is hand sewn, there are loops for a ribbon bar, Nahkampfspange, DKiG and four breast badges, blouse was gently worn and is in mostly excellent condition, there are a few stains to the front and some areas of minor insect abrading, a couple of the badge loops are frayed or broken; brief description of awards included - DKiG with intact enamel but worn 'starburst' marked 20 (C. F. Zimmermann), unmarked Nahkampfspange in Bronze missing the backing plate, EKI 1939 marled L/56 (Funcke & Brüninghaus), zinc KVKI with swords marked 3 (Deumer), unmarked IAB, SWB marked 26 (B. H. Mayer), all are functional and intact; as part of the set an Erel made high quality Infanterie officer's visored cap is included, with saddle shape and a cap body of field grey colored doeskin wool, having a cap band of dark green wool, the piping is also of wool, the crown piping being of a thicker diameter than that used to edge the cap band, there is a spot of insect damage to the crown piping at the right peak, with bullion insignia, the national emblem is hand embroidered on a field grey colored backing and shows some abrading, the silver metallic chin cord is held above the composite visor with silver pebbled buttons, the underside of the visor is marked from constant 'thumbing', the cap is lined in golden yellow colored rayon and the celluloid sweatband has the silver Erel Extra logo, the tan colored leather sweatband is embossed Erel Stirnschutz, estimated size is 56, one photo reveals light moth tracking to the top but this is practically invisible to the eye unless held at just the right angle in the proper light, there is a single 1mm diameter hole to the top at the rear of the cap; further is a Heer officer's brocade belt and buckle, belt with buckle measures 11cm in length, having unmarked aluminum buckle and catch, grey colored leather tongue, with two keepers and ribbed green fabric backing; finally there are the documents and photographs, there is a hand written pocket diary in script which may pertain to family matters and this appears to date from the end of the 19th century, there are a membership booklet and card for an athletic club in Florisdorf, photos of Kornprobst in athletic kit including one shot performing a standing press plus two photos in uniform, the first in summer dress with visored cap and dagger and the second the photo mentioned before with awards and this is a postwar print, the last item is a card for the year 1944 for membership in an Austrian equestrian organization, very interesting, USD $11,750
