Rare set of Waffen-SS contract Erbsentarn Panzer wrap and trousers in drillich material, service used standard issue SS contract garment conforming to the cut and proportions as found with SS Panzer wraps and having the one piece back, the short waist and the smaller lapels, constructed of drillich fabric printed on one side in the distinctive 'dot' pattern, wrap has one inner chest pocket, the closure tabs and waist drawstring tunnels are of matching camouflaged fabric, the olive colored waist tie tapes have an HBT weave, the convex shaped tab closure and buttons are of a black composite material, the larger front closure buttons are a grey green composite, two of the front closure buttons have been replaced, one with an aluminum Zeltbahn-stye button and the other a black painted steel button of French origin riveted into place, wrap was never set up for wear with shoulder straps nor did it have a sleeve eagle, the collar has a steel hook and eye, the collar reverse has a wavy line of bias reinforcement stitching and there is a hanging loop at the inner neck, as normal, cuffs are not adjustable but are plainly hemmed, wrap has the elliptically shaped type buttonholes throughout, issue markings have faded, at one time the back panel was stenciled with large red letters PG (prisonnier de guerre) and efforts to remove them were moderately successful, wrap shows moderate service use overall soiling, there are few picks to the fabric but no repairs or alterations, this very example is featured in chapter 5 of the book Panzer Feldjacke: German Armored Crew Uniforms of the Second World War, Vol.3: SS-VT and Waffen-SS by S. Pritchett; the matching Waffen-SS pattern trousers are also made from Erbsentarn overprinted drillich material with the exception of the small loop above the small patch watch pocket which is fashioned from autumn pattern oakleaf A drillich fabric camouflage, the trousers have a built in dark grey webbed belt which is intended to be fastened with a detachable three prong buckle (the attached buckle is incomplete), the button used to secure the buckle to its strap is of black plastic as are the four fly closure buttons, one button each of this type is also used at the trouser ends, steel dished buttons are used at the topmost inner waistband and to hold the two hip pocket flaps, there are no rear pockets, the inner crotch area is lined in ribbed white cotton, the same fabric is used to reinforce the leg ends, the leg end tie taps are of white HBT tape, knotted at the ends, one end has 'retreated' into the lining area, the trousers too show wear and age but are unaltered and undamaged with the exception of a chafed area at the inner right lower bloused trouser leg, the trousers have less soiling than the wrap, rare and ultra desirable ensemble as famously worn by the crew of Tigers and other Panzer types in the Noramandy battles and elsewhere, USD $24,250
