VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Waffenrock with awards for a Heer Oberfeldwebel from Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 138, privately made and with a woven frayed tailor's label, garment is constructed of ribbed trikot wool, with lining of grey colored rayon and having one pocket in the tail (the other is sewn closed), the stand and fall collar and cuffs are covered in dark green badge cloth, with two sets of brass collar hooks and eyes (one hook is missing), the lower edge of the collar, the front closure, the upper edges of the cuffs and the tail decorations have green wool piping, with bright silver pebbled buttons, the custom hand embroidered collar litzen and cuff bars are rendered in aluminum wires on green wool bases and, the Litzen are machine applied to collar, the cuff bars appear to be hand applied, the broad parade style metallic NCO tresse is machine sewn to the upper collar edge and lower cuff edgess, the sewn in shoulder straps have dark green upper panels, machine applied metallic NCO tresse, two silver rank pips and the numerals 138 each, the piping is wool, there is a button for wearing a marksmanship lanyard under the right shoulder strap and a second type grade 2 marksmanship lanyard is included, the bullion wire national emblem is hand sewn and the right upper wing has lost some of its embroidery, the hand embroidered Gebirgsjäger sleeve patch includes an aluminum wire piton, the medal bar is attached to original loops and includes an EKII, 1. März 1938 medal and a long service awards, there are three sets of breast badge loops and affixed to them are an unmarked EKI, unmarked SWB and an IAB marked S.H.u.Co. over 41, all are intact with functional pins and catches, Rock was a favorite of its former owner and was often worn exhibiting wear and soiling, lining is age yellowed and stained in spots, there are no actual holes or repairs to the body or piping, one of the more desirable Waffenfarben, USD $3000 SOLD
