Incredible service blouse for a Heer Panzerjäger Oberleutant with EIGHT originally applied Tank Destruction Badges in Silver, an undoubtedly unique and one of a kind historical treasure, originally acquired from a veteran in the 1970s and recently obtained from the estate of an experienced 80+ year old American collector, preliminary research (with the kind assistance of a member of the Wehrmacht-Awards Forum) suggests that the former owner of this garment may have been worn by Oberleutnant der Reserve and Chef, 1. Kompanie, Panzerjäger-Abteilung 13 Rudi Schmidt (please paste the URL below for more information), the tailor's label is from Magdeburg, there were two Panzerjäger units based in Magdeburg, Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 4 - which was destroyed at Stalingrad, leaving Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 13, Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 13 had two German Cross in Gold recipients, the name label found in the pocket is difficult to read but the first penned name may be Rudolf, of course this is speculative pending further research; about the tunic, all insignia, TDBs, badge loops, etc. are originally applied and no effort has been made to clean or alter the garment in any way, it is constructed of field grey colored ribbed trikot wool and has a lining of pale green rayon with candy striped sleeve linings, shoulders are slightly padded, there is one internal breast pocket and a strap with friction clip for the suspension of a dagger, both tailor and name labels are straight machine stitched, blouse has the dark green stand and fall dark green badge cloth covered collar with two sets of brass hook and eye, it has four pleated patch pockets, six button front closure, turn back cuffs and a centrally vented rear skirt, the officer quality buttons are marked Extra Fein, the shoulder board buttons are smaller (the lowest front closure button is absent and a substitute was placed for a couple of the photos), the officer quality collar patches are machine applied, the shoulder boards are firmly sewn into the shoulder seams and have not been disturbed, each shoulder board has a gilt finished zinc rank pip, the right shoulder board has a large gilt washed gothic P device, this device is missing from the left board though the outline from its former placement is clearly visible, the national emblem is hand embroidered in aluminum wires with black thread highlights on dark green badge cloth, it is originally hand applied, there are loops for a multi place ribbon bar plus for a badge to the right breast and for three badges to the left breast, the loops for the DKiG have been reinforced with black thread, the eight Tank Destruction Badges in Silver are hand sewn with black thread to a corresponding section of rectangular shaped grey rayon having its borders folded underneath, except for the very top and bottom badges, only the vertical borders of the TDB are sewn to this separate rectangular section, the rectangular section itself is sewn to the sleeve with black thread and sections of this sewing has come undone revealing the fresher, unfaded fabric underneath, blouse saw meaningful service use and exhibits the age, wear and staining one would expect from an officer at the front, the lining is sweat stained and yellowed, particularly at back and shoulders, the right collar edge has a 1.5cm separation, externally there is significant soiling, sweat stains, other stains, perhaps of an organic nature, and even traces of mud to the lower skirt and rear cuffs, there are a few nicks to the right lower cuff edge, no repairs or other alterations have been made, handling provokes thoughts of greater times and greater men, this may be the most memorable of the thousands of uniforms that we have been privileged to photograph, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information or additional photos, USD $35,000
