VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Early Peek & Cloppenburg manufactured assault gun wrap for a Heer Sturmgeschütz Oberfeldwebel, seldom seen early war wrap marked with maker information, sizes and '41 date, period altered by being slightly shortened and with the adjustable cuff components removed, these alterations were executed to such a professional standard by machine sewing to be practically undetectable, wrap itself is manufactured from later early war issue field grey wool, lining, inner pockets, tie tape tunnels, belt support straps and buttoning tabs are made of grey colored ribbed cotton, the tie tapes have HBT weave, the lapel and buttoning tab buttons are of horn, the three large front closure buttons are a tan colored composite, the shoulder strap buttons are field grey painted steel, there is a steel hook and eye at the collar, the Litzen collar patches have synthetic piping and are factory machine stitched, the matched pair of slip on shoulder straps are of the same vintage, they have synthetic piping and the ribbed cotton tongue reinforcements, each strap has a pair of aluminum rank pips with aluminum prongs, the metallic NCO Tresse is machine applied, the sleeve 'piston rings' are also machine applied with the ends being built into the inner sleeve seams, the flatwire national emblem is a postwar addition sewn over another woven national emblem, overall the piece exhibits light age, there are a few moth holes - one to the center chest, three to the collar's rear, two to the back plus a couple of pinhead sized moth holes, one to the right sleeve and another to the body at the left underarm position, 1941 manufactured examples are quite rare, USD $7250
