VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Pre war decorated service blouse with trousers for an Oberfeldwebel in a Heer Gebirgspionier Regiment, made of field grey colored trikot wool and lined in dark grey ribbed rayon, with integral waist belt and provision for wear with sword, there is one internal breast pocket, blouse has a dark green stand and fall collar closed with a pair of hooks with eyes, the front closure has eight buttons, there are two upper pleated patch pockets and two lower slash pockets, the front closure is piped in black wool, the raised Litzen collar patches have silver tarnished silver wire embroidery on black wool bases and are machine sewn to the collar, the upper edges of the collar have machine applied metallic NCO Tresse, the sewn in shoulder straps have dark green upper panels, machine applied metallic NCO Tresse, and black basketweave style synthetic piping, each has two silver rank pips, the shoulder board and pocket buttons are the smaller type, the front closure buttons are high quality silver pebbled examples having the Assmann logo and marked EXTRA FEIN, there are two belt hook support buttons at the rear, there is a button for a marksmanship lanyard under the right shoulder strap, the national emblem is hand embroidered in aluminum wires with white thread highlights on field grey colored wool and is hand sewn, the Gebirgsjäger sleeve insigne and Waffenfeldwebel specialty badge are both machine embroidered onto wool and are both carefully hand applied to the sleeve, there are loops for a multi place ribbon bar, fabric is undamaged and is absent repair, the inner belt hook and dagger hanger have some rust, there is fading and staining to the lining, one lower lining seam at the hem is loose, the NCO Tresse has spots of oxidation, a starched collar liner is included; the trousers are made of stone grey trikot fabric and are lined at the waist in a candy stripe pattern rayon, they have pocket bags of a ribbed white cotton, there are two hip pockets and one rear flapped and buttoned pocket, there is a small watch pocket, the black wool piping extends the length of the outer leg seam, there are tightening straps and buckles plus black buttons for wear with braces at the outer waist, the fly is secured with a large hook and eye, the brown buttons are all marked Steinnusshosenknopf, the hemmed cuffs are reinforced at front and have buttons for wear with stirrups, trousers show wear and faint 'soup stains', there is some abrading to the lower front pocket openings, pleasing setup for a mountain NCO from a time before the shooting started, USD $2250
