Restored mid war Waffen-SS contract black Panzer wrap with the rank of SS-Hauptscharführer, the base wrap itself is a rarer mid war manufactured wrap constructed of earlier materials and having the characteristics of those types: the earlier production wool, ribbed cotton lining, more pointed collar and lapel tips, the differences are evident when compared to the more commonly encountered later was examples, the pointed open collar has a large steel hook and eye, there are four large black composite front closure buttons, smaller conical shaped composite buttons are used to close the lapel and buttoning tab and also to close the cuffs, each cuff is missing one button, the two upper lapel buttons are also absent, lining panels are of deep black cotton, the single internal pocket, belt hook support straps, tie tape tunnels, hanging loop and buttoning closure tabs are also made of ribbed cotton having a lighter shade, the tie tapes were removed, markings have faded, the collar patches are postwar replacements and they are machine sewn, the runic tab is the variant 'waffle' style and the rank tab has two aluminum rank pips, both collar patches are potential reproductions, the matched pair of slip on shoulder straps are nice earlier quality originals with the wider tongues, they have machine applied metallic NCO Tresse and synthetic piping, each has a silver rank pip, the shoulder strap bridles are replacements and the shoulder straps buttons are mismatched, the machine woven SS sleeve eagle is hand applied, there is the outline of a former sleeveband application but the wool in that area is not appreciably fresher, an EKII ribbon is applied to the first lapel buttonhole but this too seems to be a postwar replacement, the base wrap is unaltered except for the replaced shoulder strap bridles, there is moderate nap wear but there are no actual holes or repairs, one of a handful of known examples from this era, USD $7500 HOLD
