Outstanding privately made Waffen-SS M43 cap, constructed of a light field grey colored Italian gabardine which has faded to a lighter shade in exposed areas, lining fabric is blue grey colored rayon having the herringbone weave, no markings are noted but size is estimated as 55, having two tan colored plastic buttons to the front, the woven large format skull and Waffen-SS eagle are originally and neatly sewn with black cotton thread, externally cap exhibits staining, perhaps from rain or perspiration, the lining also shows fading where it came into contact with the head and this is most noticeable at the forehead position, supremely appealing and, considering materials, it is possible that the cap was worn and souvenired from the Italian front, chain of custody to the 1970s is known, USD $9500
