VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Superb SS/RZM M18 helmet reissued for Luftschutz use, the helmet's factory black finish was over sprayed in an even coat of semi gloss blue grey paint, the spray extends to the inner skirt and the edges of the leather liner are also painted, the shell behind the liner bands and the inner dome retain most of the original factory black paint, there is significant dust build up between liner bands and shell, the right inner skirt is embossed with a large RZM in a circle, the left inner skirt has the large SS runic embossing, the thick brown leather liner band is riveted to the shell in three places, the remains of a paper name tag are attached to it, the brown colored leather liner sections are undamaged, have all have their pads, and a leather cord passes through their zinc eyelets, the full length black leather chinstrap has both a roller buckle and a spring clip, the ends of the chinstrap are riveted to the liner bands, the outer finish is in excellent condition with just a ding and scuff to the left rear dome, the Luftschutz decal is almost completely intact, amazing example from a collection of Luftschutz helmet variants, USD $4000 HOLD
