VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Fantastic set of Waffenrock, trousers, aiguillette, dress belt and awards for a highly decorated Heer General der Infanterie, pre war quality Waffenrock has the woven label of an Erfurt-based tailor, garment body is constructed of the finest quality field grey colored trikot wool, with dark green badge cloth stand and fall collar and cuffs, lower edge of collar, front closure, upper edges of cuffs and tail decorations are piped in red colored wool, the gilt pebbled buttons have the Assmann logo and the legend Extra Fein, the General ranks collar patches and cuff bars have gilt wire hand embroidery on red badge cloth and are machine straight stitched, the sewn in shoulder boards have intertwined gilt and metallic silver cords on red wool and two oversized rank pips each, the beautiful General's rank national emblem is hand rendered in gilt wires with contrasting gilt thread highlights on dark green badge cloth and is carefully hand applied, the lining is of grey colored rayon and it is fitted with an elasticized waist belt and clasp, there is one internal breast pocket with vertical opening and a pair of pockets in the tail, a full dress aiguillette is fitted, it is constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled gilt bullion wire and has gilt finished metal ferrules of a variant pattern, there are loops for one badge to the right breast and five or six badges to the left breast plus loops for a long medal bar, the original medal bar with Austro-Hungarian awards is still affixed, in addition there are two breast badges still in place - the large award is the Order of the Romanian Crown Grand Officer 2nd Class Breast Star, the smaller badge is the Austrian Decoration for Services to the Red Cross; the straight legged trousers are made of stone grey colored trikot wool and have a small watch pocket, two vertical hip pockets and a single buttoned rear pocket, the inner waistband lining is of patterned rayon, the fly facing and pocket bags are made of grey colored flat cotton, there are tightening straps with friction buckles at each outer hip, grey/brown plastic buttons are used at fly, for the pockets and to anchor braces, the red colored wool Lampassen are machine stitched to each outer leg and the center leg seam is piped in red colored wool; the General's rank brocade belt measures 124cm from tip of buckle to end of keeper, the belt has a green velvet backing, the unmarked aluminum buckle and keeper have a bright gilt finish; Waffenrock is in fine bright condition with little overt wear, there are a few picks and tiny stains to the fabric and some minor moth tracking to the rear, there is a small hole .5cm in diameter to the right mid skirt; trousers exhibit just traces of wear and soiling being damage free, the belt is in excellent condition with the velvet only showing some wear from coming into contact with the rear belt support buttons; the name tag was cut from the inner pocket but it is anticipated that the former owner's identity may be determined from the list of Austrians holding Heer General's rank prior to the war, a truly imposing ensemble, USD $13,500 HOLD
