Rare converted Heer EM black Panzer M42 cap, upgraded into the M43 style as was popular at the time, with a bill of closely matching black wool, the new bill was added by opening the cap's lining at the forehead, machine sewing the addition and then closing the lining again via hand stitching, the new visor has an internal stiffener, likely of treated pasteboard, it is creased in two areas from folding, the remainder of the cap body is standard in all respects, being made from mid war issue quality black wool and having a single black ventilation grommet at each temple, the lining is of a flat putty colored cotton, the black ink maker block is faint though the size stamp 59 is clearer, the actual size is estimated at 55/56, the grommets have partially detached from the internal lining but are firmly affixed to their outer shells and in no danger of coming loose, the black painted pebbled buttons have traces of their paint and both look to be originally sewn, the T form woven national emblem and rosette are factory hand stitched with black cotton thread, cap was service worn but has lost little of its nap, the body is free of damage or repair, there are a couple of picks to the insignia, the first of this type we have offered in almost two decades, USD $4500
