VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Pre war Heer Artillerie officer's visored cap Alter Art style, based on construction and materials dating from the early to the mid '30s, cap body is constructed of issue quality field grey wool and has a cap band of medium green colored wool, the piping is of red colored wool, having a flexible black finished leather visor, the interior top lining panel is orange colored oilcloth, the side lining pieces are of a putty colored soft cheesecloth type material, the sweatband is fabric and is connected at the rear seam with a brass split pin, the pre war pattern tarnished silver wreath and rosette are attached with prongs which do not penetrate the lining, the early pattern Heer national emblem is attached with off white cotton thread through three holes drilled to the edges, cap measures approximately size 54, there are a few insect bites to the piping and areas of minor moth tracking to cap body and band but no actual holes, not a type often encountered, USD $2300
