Named Heer Gebirgsjäger officers visored cap as made by the Wilhelm Wellhausen firm, service used and having a jaunty shape, this cap's celluloid sweat diamond displays the the gilt maker's logo, the diamond is cracked at the slot for the name insert but the paper tag with the former owner's name is still present, the top lining panel is of cream colored rayon, the side panels are of a ribbed rayon, lining components are stained from wear, the grey colored leatherette sweatband is embossed with the maker's logo, the flexible black leather visor was wartime machine reinforced to the cap body with a single line of stitching that goes through the sweatband, the visor exhibits surface cracking, the metallic chin cord is affixed with two silver pebbled buttons and lies a bit loose, the cap body is made of field grey wool that has faded to a more greyish shade, the cap band is made of dark green badge cloth wool, the Hellgrün colored wool piping shows slight fading to the exposed areas, the silvered alloy national emblem and Edelweiss are affixed with prongs that are not visible on the inside, the wool surrounding these devices is less worn, the wreath is hand embroidered in aluminum wires with a multi piece rosette and is hand applied, cap size is estimated as 56/57, presenting an attractive field used aspect, USD $1850 HOLD
