Striking Sturmabteilung officer's kepi, Gruppe Südwest, constructed of dark tan colored cotton twill, having a flat top and semi rigid brim, the sides are covered in fine orange colored wool, the cap is an upgraded EM example, the crown and turn up are piped in thick twisted aluminum piping which was carefully hand sewn with the ends being tucked into seams at the cap's rear, the second type kepi eagle is silver finished alloy and was originally affixed with three flat prongs with angled ends, the prong from the eagle's right wing is absent but the badge sits well and is originally applied, the finely pebbled silver button is affixed with two broad flat prongs, the reverse of the button is embossed RZM and what appears to read G.G.L.U.E 1C2, the adjustable brown colored leather chinstrap has two brown finished buckles with center hinge, its ends are affixed to the cap with two brown finished alloy buttons riveted to the cap, there are two orange finished grommets to each side with finish largely intact, lining is ribbed brown colored rayon and there is an intact plain celluloid sweat diamond, the maker information is stamped to the top lining panel at the forehead position in black ink, the stamping is in cursive font and is difficult to read but may contain the name Kastner, the word Mützen and Esslingen, the flexible brown colored leather sweatband is attached to a black velvet border at cap's edge, approximate size 58, cap presents a light service worn appearance and there is no damage, those with suggestions about the maker's identity are invited to contact us, very nice, USD $3000
