VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Service used Waffen-SS Erbsentarn pattern four pocket camouflaged jacket in drillich cotton, printed in the distinctive 'dot' pattern fabrics of slightly varying textures and shades and assembled throughout with black construction threads, with a steel hook and eye at the throat, having a five button front, four patch pockets, two belt hook support positions per hip and adjustable cuffs, with underarm lining components of flat grey colored cotton, the belt hook support straps, bandage pocket and cuff linings are of grey colored rayon having the HBT weave, blouse has a mixture of pebbled steel buttons, some painted field grey and some blue, all look to be period sewn with the possible exception of the two lower pocket buttons, each adjustable cuff has two black plastic buttons and the same type is used for the bandage pocket and these all are originally stitched, garment was not set up for wear with shoulder straps and a sleeve eagle was never installed, the right underarm ling panel is stamped in black ink with sizes and Betr. Ra. indicating manufacture at the Ravensbrück KZL, for a larger soldier having chest size 98, garment was certainly worn and exhibits an overall patina of use, blood stains may be observed to the left collar, left upper chest, left upper pocket flap, left upper sleeve parallel to the pocket, bottom left pocket's lower edge, right outer elbow area and right lower pocket, the most visible stains are those to the chest, the remainder are fainter, there is also a small hole to the left rear shoulder just below the collar line measuring .25cm in diameter, one end of the internal collar hanging loop has become undone, no other damage or repairs are noted, USD $4500 HOLD
