VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. The site is intended for use by researchers, archivists and collectors of historical military memorabilia. This site carries no affiliation whatsoever with any political ideology. Ensemble for a Luftwaffe Nachrichten Feldwebel and member of Legion Condor, includes service blouse, trousers, visored cap, belt with buckle and Soldbuch, service blouse is privately tailored of early quality ribbed blue grey colored finely ribbed trikot wool, it has an open collar, four button front, four pleated patch pockets and turn back cutfs, lining is of pale blue grey colored rayon, there is one internal breast pocket and a strap for suspension of a dagger or sword, there is an internal waist belt with chromed clasp, the buttons are pebbled aluminum, the pocket and shoulder strap buttons are the smaller type, having machine applied cinnamon colored collar patches with aluminum rank gulls, the collar is piped in twisted cinnamon colored cord, the sewn in shoulder straps are made of the same material and have synthetic piping, the Luftwaffe style NCO Tresse is machine sewn to collar and shoulder straps, each shoulder strap has a single silver rank pip and a zinc numeral 3, the prongs for the left shoulder strap's 3 are missing and it was just placed for the photos (also included will be a replacement 3 in the same style having intact prongs but with gilt finish), the national emblem is hand embroidered in white cording with blue thread highlights on trikot wool, it is hand applied, the lower left sleeve has a radio NCO specialty patch, it is hand embroidered with white cord on trikot wool and has a twisted aluminum border, hand sewn to the right sleeve above the cuff is a hand embroidered Legion Condor sleeve band on blue wool, it is originally applied but a few of the attachment threads are loose; the accompanying straight legged trousers are made of the same fabric and have a waistband and pocket bags of grey colored polished cotton, the front is pleated, there are two slashed hip pockets, a flapped rear pocket and an angled watch pocket, the front closure buttons are grey colored plastic, the rear pocket button is absent, there are belt loops at the outer waist, the leg ends are hemmed; the issue quality visored cap has the legend of a Berlin maker to the celluloid sweat diamond, the orange oilcloth lining is stamped in black ink size 56 1/2 and is dated 20.3.1938, it is made of issue blue grey wool with mohair cap band and wool piping, with patent leather visor and early pattern aluminum insignia, sweatband is tan colored leather; the dress style brown leather belt is felt backed and has the embossed maker's logo, the two piece aluminum buckle has the first pattern eagle, the catch is steel, it measures 99cm in length; finally the Soldbuch has a photo of subject wearing the Fliegerbluse, it shows service with 3.Ln.Rgt.Legion Condor Nr.3 and other units through Oct. '44, subject was awarded the Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938 in Sept. '39; condition of the service blouse is excellent and without damage, the trousers show rather more wear and there is a small whitish spot to the lower left leg, visor cap has a nip to crown piping at the left side, the chinstrap and visor show some crazing and the lower center of the visor edge is abraded, the sweatband has a crack at the forehead position, Soldbuch is complete and has inserted pages, interesting set and seldom found with originally applied Legion Condor sleeve band, USD $2500 NEW PRICE
