Set of piped service blouse and matching trousers for a Heer Generalstab Oberst with collar patches for service with the Oberkommando des Heeres/Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, early war set finely tailored of the best materials and having the pre 1942 pattern collar insignia with the distinctive gilt bullion embroidered design and serrated Litzen called "Kolbenstickerei" (see Vol. 1, p. 257 of Uniforms and Traditions of the German Army by Angolia and Schlicht), blouse constructed from soft high quality field grey colored trikot wool, with a dark green badge cloth stand and fall collar, four pleated patch pockets and turn back cuffs, the lower edge of the dark green collar, the blouse's front closure and the upper edge of the turn back cuffs are piped in crimson colored wool, the lining is of a green colored rayon. there is a single internal breast pocket with a vertical opening and there are fittings for the suspension of a dagger or sword, the high quality silver pebbled metal buttons are marked Extra Fein, all match and look to be originally sewn, the shoulder board buttons are the narrower diameter type, the collar patch embroidery is hand rendered in gilt wires onto a crimson colored wool base and these are machine applied to the collar, the Oberst rank shoulder boards are built into the shoulder seams, each has two gilt rank pips and the left board's base has minor insect damage, the hand embroidered national emblem is worked in aluminum wires with green thread highlights onto a dark green badge cloth base, it is originally hand sewn, the eagle's right wingtip also has insect damage but this is not particularly noticeable due to the dark colored backing, the adjutant's aiguillette is not fastened into place by a button under the shoulder board, there are loops for a small ribbon bar and a breast badge, a length of EKII ribbon is applied to the second buttonhole with grey and black threads, garment is lightly worn with the shoulder boards showing the most age, there are a few picks to the fabric plus a repaired cut 1cm in length to the right rear elbow and a darned repair 2cm in length to the left rear cuff; the matching straight legged trousers are also made of the best quality trikot wool but are in the stone grey color, each outer leg has the wide crimson stripes with center piping of wool indicating Generalstab service, there is a small watch pocket, a buttoned rear pocket and two slash hip pockets, the outer waistband is of grey colored rayon and it has a large decorated clasp and hook, pocket bags are also of rayon while the inner waistband is of a pale light grey colored flat cotton, brown plastic buttons are used at the fly and inner waistband, the rear tightening strap has a blued claw buckle marked *SOLIDE*, the leather stirrups are a bit dry, both tips with buttons have separated with one end being found in a hip pocket, the trousers show light mothing to the inner legs and, inevitably, the crotch area, a rectangular patch of field grey wool was applied to the inner leg in this area, there are fewer small holes to the rear, spectacular set of a type seldom offered, USD $6750
